The gospel is the good news of being united to Jesus Christ. God created the world good, perfect, and wonderful. He created humans, our bodies, minds, hearts, and this world as perfect and inherently good. However, the first humans, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God, and sinned, and sin entered the world, leaving all of humanity tainted and distorted by our sinful disobedience. All humans after them have become enemies of God, unable to reconcile themselves to Him, for our hearts became fully distorted by our sin. The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ loved us and gave Himself on the cross to save, reconcile, and unite us to God! God became man, in the person of Jesus Christ, and, as fully human and fully God, He lived a perfect and sinless life on earth. He died on a cross, taking our sins and the penalty we deserved for them, so that we may be made perfect through our eternal union with Him and saved from Hell, God’s wrath against our sin. After three days, Jesus Christ rose again from the dead, defeating the destructive power of death by His new life. Then He ascended to Heaven. Through our faith in Jesus, and through His death and resurrection, we are united to Him completely and forever, and we are given eternal life with Him in Heaven. If you do not know Jesus Christ, my prayer is that you would realize His love for you and repent and turn from your sin, read the Bible, where He has revealed Himself to us, and that you would believe that He is Lord and commit the rest of your life to following Him, for there is life, hope, and salvation in Jesus Christ alone.
